To enter for Miss Photogenic, you must submit a PRINTED photo, 5x7 or Smaller. They need to be headshots. (Shoulders and up)

Best Hair: Is what the judges deem has the wow factor. They look at it and wish their hair looked like that or appreciate what went into an extravagant style. This will be looked at during your walk and prior to dancing.

For Best Dress you will have extra time on stage to show off your dress. A separate dance & walk for Best Dress and have a description of your dress read. The description form is online and is due by Sunday, March 8th. If the form is not completed by that date, we will read your name and dress color only. This is the consensus of the 3 pageant night judges.

Dress Requirements: Dresses must be floor-length gowns. Ankles should not be seen. No hi-low. No two pieces. Dresses must be appropriate for a school function. They can be strapless or have spaghetti straps, but they cannot be backless (NO LOWER than one inch below your bra strap, if it is see through you must have a modesty panel or bandeau/tube top underneath) or have any kind of cutouts (cutouts that have see-through fabric are not allowed.) No leg slits. They cannot plunge in the front. If you have a train or anything that drapes onto the floor, it must be bustled/pinned and NOT down. (8th grade changes into leggings and a long sleeve button-down shirt for their dance) Dresses cannot drag/puddle on the floor at all. It is unsafe for you and the girls near you. No hoop skirt of any type will be permitted. Only tulle crinolines without structure. Dresses over 3 feet wide side to side or front to back, are no longer permitted.

It will be the sole discretion of the chairperson/administration if a dress is ill-fitting and inappropriate for the pageant. A picture of the contestant in the dress with shoes, front & back needs to be submitted on Remind. You must wear your dress to the dress rehearsal and the same dress must be worn as shown to us for the night of pageant. You can not add or take any thing away from what we see at dress rehearsal. This is mandatory and not an option. You will not be allowed on stage if these rules are broken. Please contact us on Instagram, Facebook, or Remind before you buy a dress if you have questions!

Consignment/secondhand stores and Facebook marketplace are great resources for (once worn/great priced) beautiful dresses! Do not feel you need to go to a “pageant” shop. We have a dress sale scheduled for January.

Shoes can be of any height or style, but they must be brought to all rehearsals, and the same shoes are to be worn the night of the pageant. (Please have shoes by first rehearsal, this is especially important to your feet and evident during pageant when you have not practiced in your shoes. We understand if you might not have your shoes at the beginning if you do not have a dress yet. Please bring something similar in height to what you are planning to purchase so you can get used to walking and dancing in heels.)

People’s Choice People’s choice is a category that for $1.00 per vote you can choose the contestant you want to win. You can cast (purchase) votes with your entry fee, online and pageant night (cash/online only) until intermission.

Miss Congeniality: Everyone will be entered at no cost. The pageant contestants will choose the winner. We are looking for the girl that was kind, sweet, considerate & helpful all year long.

Essays: All girls entering the pageant must write an essay. The essay is 50% of your initial score. The essay will be completed after school. There will be a winner for Best Essay.

REMIND IS REQUIRED FOR PARENTS (contestants are encouraged to join too!)  I send out Reminders for all due dates and for what is coming up for the week. It is also used as immediate communication in the event of any type of notification that you need to know of right at that moment. (Cancellations, weather, or other emergency)

You must join REMIND as soon as you submit your child's application.

Please have your notifications turned on.

Monthly Meetings/Service: We will have meetings/service projects monthly. Come in, put your stuff in the back of the café and sit in designated areas. If you are not feeling well, we will contact your parent to come get you. Phones are to be left in your purse/bag. Contestants can call a parent/guardian at the beginning or near the end of our meeting, otherwise, phones are not permitted to be out or on the contestant and especially not with the contestant in the restroom. Parents: Your child is not ignoring you, they are not permitted to have their phones. If it is an emergency send me a message through Remind.

It is a goal for our pageant that the girls participate in service projects. This is to cultivate a community of kindness and generosity, and to teach the girls that part of beauty is the way we treat others. We will post dates, times, and activities on our Instagram, Facebook, and send out a Remind message as well. We do understand that the girls are involved in many activities and might not be able to attend each service meeting, but we do require that you at least complete 2 service projects with us.

Rehearsals: Begin immediately after school is dismissed. Please consult the calendar for specific days for grade levels and all rehearsals. Come in, put your stuff in the back of the café, sanitize your hands and sit in designated areas. If you are not feeling well, we will contact your parent to come get you. Phones are to be left in your purse/bag. Contestants can call a parent/guardian at the beginning or near the end of rehearsal, otherwise, phones are not permitted to be out or on the contestant and especially not with the contestant in the restroom.

Rehearsals for the pageant are closed. Only pageant contestants and chairpersons are allowed to attend the rehearsals. (No friends or parents sitting in watching. No exceptions. This includes dress rehearsal.)

Rehearsals are Mandatory: You must attend ALL your rehearsals. (Twice a week and dress rehearsal, March 27) Please place the calendar in a visible place to remind you of dates and times. Please schedule appointments on days you do not rehearse. *If you are sick, stay home! Please notify us through Remind, Instagram, or Facebook. Mandatory rehearsals cannot be missed unless sick. Rehearsals are until 6pm  (Dress Rehearsal pickup will be about 8pm) You must stay the entire rehearsal. If you have a conflict where you must leave early one day, notify us in writing at least one day in advance. If more than one rehearsal is missed, you will not be able to participate in the pageant. (Emergencies/Sickness or school event will NOT count against your one missed day.)

Dress Rehearsal: Dress rehearsal in your dress is mandatory. Friday, March 27th the girls will be doing a full run through of the pageant including wearing their dresses. 8th grade will be changing for their dance and will need to have black leggings and a LONG white button-down shirt. Dresses will need to be dropped at the school before noon and we will hold them in a secure room until the end of the day. Dresses are not permitted on the bus, but we have always had parents willing to drop off both their and other contestant dresses, shoes, etc. Each contestant will receive one pageant pamphlet during dress rehearsal. If you want more than that one, Pageant Pamphlets will be available for purchase on Revtrak and a few at the pageant.

Behavior: We expect the girls to have fun and enjoy this experience with the other girls. We want them to make friendships that last and make memories they will look back on and treasure.

If conduct or behavior is in any way inappropriate in school (write ups, ISS, suspension, etc.), during pageant rehearsals/community service (arguing, fighting, disrespect) on social media (participating in anything inappropriate, bullying another contestant, etc.) the contestant will not be able to continue with Miss AMS. (This will be addressed on an individual basis based on the incident)

This is a school fundraiser and there will be no refunds if a contestant decides not to participate or is asked to leave for violating the rules.

*While we will make every attempt possible to adhere to all dates there is a possibility that some might be changed or missed. Contestants will not be penalized if we must change a rehearsal and they are unable to attend the rescheduled date. I will work with the parent/guardian to come up with a solution for their contestant. A parent is required to join the Miss AMS class on REMIND @amspageant to make sure you do not miss any important notifications. We also post lots of photos for you on Facebook and Instagram so follow us!

Miss AMS

Miss AMS advocates that our pageant should focus on qualities beyond beauty. Every girl is beautiful, and we emphasize education, grace, poise, and overall presentation.

We aim to foster a community of kindness, generosity, and inclusivity through activities and service. Our goal is to show the girls that beauty extends beyond appearance to how we treat others.
